Dear Parents,
Please note that I would have returned 3 files to the children for revision purposes [SA1 Exams] by next Wednesday.
will be returned by Wednesday-> RED [English Workbook pages - coloured worksheets
returned-> GREEN [SEED Worksheets + worksheets]
returned-> BLUE [Maths Workbook, Homework book + worksheets]
There are still a few more worksheets for filing and I seek your cooperation in helping your child file them up as I return them by next week. Please go through all the worksheets with your child and sign where necessary. I seek that you return the files [with worksheets intact] by the end of Term 3 Week 1.
For this entire week, I will be letting the children do Exam Practice papers [English and Maths] in an exam setting environment [No discussion/talking]. The marks that your child has obtained for the Practice papers will give you a rough idea of how they might perform for the actual exams.
P.S Another update will be given regarding the specific worksheets to be filed in the 3 files.

LJ to Kids' Kampong
Dear All,
enjoy these photos of the kids and I at Kids' Kampong. The kids sure had fun feeding the animals, learning interseting facts at the petting station and most of all, fishing!! They caught quite a number of fishes on their own. I am so proud of these little cute chatterboxes ;p. They even enjoyed completing the customised EL and MA trail worksheets. A big thank you to Tan Qi's mum; Jane and Brian's mum; Serene for helping me out during the Learning Journey. Without them, I would have been split into many pieces by the kids..heheh just kidding. I sure had lots of fun too!

International Friendship Day 2007
We celebrated International Friendship Day on 16th April 2007. Almost all us came in our traditional costumes. The day started with a sharing session with Mr. SHin about his Korean culture. The kids learnt some new Korean words. But the highlight of the day was the "Ambassadors of the World Pageant". They waved the Netherlands flag and even dressed Kristen up as a milkmaid. Tan Qi presented a speech about Netherlands. I am very proud of them for being so brave on stage. After the hall activities, they had an hour recess, where they played and had a chance to look at the different cultural booths set up for the day.

Oral Examination
Dear All,
here are some answers to questions that might have arisen regarding the oral exams.
1.The text will be set by the setter of P1 English SA1 Paper. Teachers will not know what the text is and where it is extracted from. Teachers will only know the text on the Oral Exam day. Different texts and pictures are used for different days. Our papers go through many levels of vetting so we can assure you that we test within the P1's ability.
2. Pictures descriptions will be based on different pictures. As mentioned above, teachers do not know the texts or pictures for Oral Exam. The pictures given are to ready pupils for the proper way to go about describing the pictures, although describing a different picture on the exam day.The Specialist Vocabulary List is a compilation of words that pupils can use to describe a certain place. Parents can go through different pictures of several scenarios and discuss the vocabulary words which can be used. Pupils are not expected to write them out. Pupils are able to score if they are able to describe the picture amply, hopefully using adjectives. It will be a bonus if pupils are able to point out focal points [usually moral issues] in the pictures and deliver an opinion on it. This shows that the pupil is analysing the situation.

Kidz Showz
The EL Department has a platform for the P1 and P2 children to improve their Show and Tell. This platform is called Kidz Showz.Mostly, teachers would screen the class and put up names of better speakers in Kidz Showz. It exposes children to a bigger audience as it is conducted during recess weekly. Here, P1 children are able to watch and learn from their peers from other classes.
Congratulations to Tan Qi for being so brave during his Kidz Showz in the library. Tan Qi talked about his favourite fruit. Look out for Daniel Goh's performance in the next Kidz Showz! I hope other children would find this a good opportunity to hone their speaking skills.
