Dear All,
here are some answers to questions that might have arisen regarding the oral exams.
1.The text will be set by the setter of P1 English SA1 Paper. Teachers will not know what the text is and where it is extracted from. Teachers will only know the text on the Oral Exam day. Different texts and pictures are used for different days. Our papers go through many levels of vetting so we can assure you that we test within the P1's ability.
2. Pictures descriptions will be based on different pictures. As mentioned above, teachers do not know the texts or pictures for Oral Exam. The pictures given are to ready pupils for the proper way to go about describing the pictures, although describing a different picture on the exam day.The Specialist Vocabulary List is a compilation of words that pupils can use to describe a certain place. Parents can go through different pictures of several scenarios and discuss the vocabulary words which can be used. Pupils are not expected to write them out. Pupils are able to score if they are able to describe the picture amply, hopefully using adjectives. It will be a bonus if pupils are able to point out focal points [usually moral issues] in the pictures and deliver an opinion on it. This shows that the pupil is analysing the situation.
