Reminders

By now, your child would have collected back 4 sets of exam practice papers. There are 2 practice papers for English [stapled together] and 2 for Mathematics [stapled together].
I've gone through all the practice papers with the children in class Kindly go through these papers with them again, taking note of their mistakes.

Kindly file the English Practice papers in the Green file and the Maths Practice papers in the Blue file after revising.

There is one more important issue that I would need parents to help me with. As the children are still young, they do not know how to behave during an examination. Despite my reminders, they have the tendency to talk to their friends while doing the practice papers on their own. Some will also ask on the meaning of certain words. This is unacceptable. Even if they do not know the meaning of some words [this is inevitable], or do not know how to do some Maths sums, they are not supposed to ask their friends or teacher. They will just have to TRY, understand from context and make intelligent guesses.

The teacher will only address issues such as:
1) Missing pages,
2) Possibility of missing words/ Errors in the exam papers,
3) Going to the washrooms,
4) Dropping of pencil etc,.

Kindly help to remind your children on this issue.

Some important points to take note for the exams [Remind child!]
1]Write down NAME, INDEX NUMBER and CLASS on exam paper.

2] Do NOT leave any BLANKS. Try every single question. Make intelligent guesses if you do not know the answer.

3]TIME is precious! Move on to the next question if you are stuck on a particular question.

Do the questions you are confident in and then return back to the questions that you were stuck at.

4]READ INSTRUCTIONS.
Many children do not read instructions and hence, they lose marks. [They circle instead of colour, tick instead of cross out, start from smallest number instead of greatest etc]

5]After completing the paper, always CHECK! [Check that you have done ALL questions and check your answers to see if they make sense!]

Hope this blog entry helps!
